Redhat isnt providing ALL the options...are they providing CDE? hell
even fvwm2 is gone...sniff...no enlightenment either which is aimed at
being its own desktop shell and not just a window manager...Redhat is
providing a limited subset of "popular" options in pretty much every
category you care to list...
desktop environment
window manager
mail client
web browser


Redhat is not providing all the options out there for anything....Redhat
is offering a few options for pretty much everything that really matters
to endusers...even at the desktop environment level.  What Redhat is NOT
doing is overloading the menus nor splitting the menus up by desktop
environment anymore which has been common practice because the stock
desktop environments have an agenda that does not recognize that other
toolkits and applications exist.  It seems to be Redhat is coming at
things from a different point of view.  That being, trying to give the
application menus a default "best of breed" set of applications
independent of toolkit and desktop environment..instead of overloading
the menus with ALL the choices available inside Redhat or splitting them
up by desktop.  You can argue that the default apps they have selected
for the menus are boneheaded...but its such a subjective thing a lot of
people will disagree with every default choice Redhat tries to
make.
