Good point. I checked the node end. Our NIS people are very good. They would tell me if the switches were getting errors - esp since I pestered them. I've also done things like `ping -s <various sizes> server' from the client and leftit running during the failed and working mount attempts. Didn't see anything noteworthy. Turning off iptables didn't help. Posting to this list has been good tho! > /Brian/ btw, we have been running for years with this setup. Never any problem even remotely like this in the past. Then we had the problem two nights in a row, then last night we didn't. (The only changes to software on these boxes are done with up2date -u).
