Generally, in the specfile when they apply patches, the bz number is referenced, so you can see the exact extent of what was changed if you get the SRPM. Unfortuantely, someone @redhat.com would have to comment more on a non-public bug. That being said, I need to complain about the lack of transparency on this and a number of other bugs. Take for instance a bug that I reported, 178800, that can no longer be viewed externally, presumably because it was a RHEL bug that was closed/wontfix, and RH doesn't want that to be advertised externally (FWIW, it was a kernel bug where the fix would break ABI, a perfectly understandable reason for wontfix) If a bug has immediate security implications, I can understand it not being externally viewable until fixed - but after it's fixed, it should be. I really can't think of any other valid reason for a bug not to be viewable externally. Redhat also has a method for comments in externally viewable bugs not to be viewed externally. There have been cases where this feature has been useful to me, like when I privately emailed an engineer some confidential information in support of describing a bug and it needed to be part of the bug. But I see this feature used too often - there are frequently comment number skips in bugs. For all I know, they may be information of the type that I just mentioned, but I can't believe that is the case for all of them.
