One more option is a tool like yum or apt. Essentially, install a
compatible version (yum for Red Hat Linux 9 will probably work on RHEL 3
U4), "yummify" the repository (based on the RHEL 3 U4 CDs) with a
command such as yum-arch or createrepo, and update using the
repository.
