Crappy comcast cable modem...I've given up trying to benchmark it.  Its
marginaly better than the super crappy ADSL I had from verizon the year
before

the error i saw magically went away...and it started working as I soon
as I put my mind to it to run a debugged section...shrug...i'm not sure
what I did...but it works now.
