Thanks for the suggestion, I gave it a shot but it's still not working.  Here,
lemme quote the Kernel logs:

You see, the first card loads fine and the second, even after the changes in
modules.conf still does not.  However, it used to give another error about a
conflict in IO port which it doesn't seem to do right now.  So, that probably
fixed something in there, but the problem remains.
