In that case, it should work. Unless it is visibly scratched. If you can 
mount it on another Linux box / Windows box / Solaris box and search the
contents OK then you may be fine. Lot of people download from what I can
tell because they are probably bringing an old Sparc back into life for
the hell of it ;)
