UltraSPARC III is not supported by Redhat 6.2, even less supported is V880.

But why do you need Linux here? SMP in kernel 2.2.x is by far worse than
Solaris and even 2.4 cannot hang with Sol8. I suppose you have more than 2 
cpus in this box...
