Arduino on Mageia linux

I installed the Arduino IDE from Mageia RPMs and added my user to the lock group as instructed. In the tools >> serial port menu, there is no /dev/ttyUSB0 - only /dev/ttyS0 and /dev/ttyS1. I tried both of them but could not upload a program. I read that sometimes Arduino needs to be run as root, so I tried that too with no success.
