few more updates to the code

Hi, 
 I posted a few changes to the generate scripts and I'm working on the
setup.py to make the import stuff a proper python module.

I'll setup a cvs repository for it shortly (something I should have done
a while back). I'm still trying to optimize things when I can but I'm
slowly running out of ideas for speeding things up :)

I think I'm going to start on extended descriptions for the fields/tags
in the xml and explanations of what the intent was.

Right now I think if we ended up with a v1 specification that was
packages only w/o any grouping information that would be pretty okay.

When I get some docs ready I'll let y'all know so you can tell me what I
am misremembering or just plain wrong about :)
