 #1 is likely much harder to do that #2, which isn't "simple".

 #2 is "planned" after we move from urlgrabber to "curlgrabber", how
fast that goes and how quickly after that #2 happens depends on the
available time of people doing the work ... which is to say, patches
greatly appreciated :).
