 I believe Michel (and developers) are working on a proprietary package manager for Sentinix,"sxpkg" or something along those lines. In the meantime, .tar.gz is what Im doing and at this point all im really adding to the distro is Tripwire and Webmin (and in one case honeyd). There "is" a package manager (sxpkg) in the works but development is not complete in the current ISO.

I guess Michel could give you a better update but thats it as far as I know.

Is there any reason why Sentinix does not ship with apt (the Debian package
manager) ?

This would make it easier to customize and maintain the box, e.g. update
progams and get security updates.
