Greetings,

I'm seeking some input as to the following errors I have been
experiencing on what was, prior to today, a very stable install of
Sentinix. I'm hoping someone has seen this before and can point me in
the right direction.

Steps to repro:

- I pull up http/https access to the box. Fine. I click around. Fine.
(All this after a fresh reboot). Everything's groovy - can hit cacti,
nagios, all the other links/stuff.

- I click snort

- Poof. Death.

- I ps aux on snort. It's running.

- I ps aux on snortcenter - nothing.

- By this point, httpd has died. Telnet to localhost on 80 - connect
refused.

- I restart httpd. Apache complains it's not running so can't restart.
It will however start. Repeated "starts" of apache indicate it's dying
very quickly after being started.

A cursory look at /var/log/apache/error_log shows thousands of the
following:

Libpng error: stream error

I checked the archives and noticed one other person had the same error
messages. However, the problem in that particular case seemed to be
related to zlib v. 1.1.3. I'm running 1.1.4.

This is a plain vanilla install of Sentinix (which I love, btw!) except
I upgraded Cacti from the get-go to 0.8.5a. The box is smp running dual
giga hertz procs, two gigs of physical memory and a two gig swap file.

Anyone seen this before?

Thanks in advance,

-John
