I installed webmin <current> on mine to get some added GUI functionality in configuring things like postfix/fw/mysql etc etc.  a full x-desktop is overkill imho.

But why? You can do 90 % of all administration from a remote session
using a web browser. The rest you do by setting up an SSH session and
using vi. My understanding of Sentinix is that it is to be a black box.

The question I'm asking is legit, I'm new to the distro and trying to
get everything to work so when I ask the question it is to get your
reasoning.
