Rich,
1)  install wpa_supplicant from http://ftp.ntua.gr/pub/linux/slackware/slackware64-13.37/slackware64/n/wpa_supplicant-0.7.3-x86_64-3.txz
2)  install wicd http://ftp.ntua.gr/pub/linux/slackware/slackware64-13.37/extra/wicd/wicd-1.7.0-x86_64-2.txz
3) chmod 755 /erc/rc.d/rc.wicd
restart wicd daemon as root
/etc/rc.d/rc.wicd restart

wicd-client  will appear to your window manager tray or run it with wicd-client -n

I use wpa 1/2 Passphrase i have set in router something like DA0CFC184C
I write the same in wicd-client
In the advanced settings i have set driver : wext Backend: external 
In external programs i have checked dhcpcd
route table flushing: Automatic


try to connect
