   To clarify: I've been running only linux since 1997; Red Hat-4.0 through
-7.3, then Slackware-8.0 through -13.37. I've also supported Pat the his
team by subscribing to receive distributions as they're released. Ergo, I've
not had a need to download an installation .iso file before. And, as it
turns out, I did not need to now, either. I could have mastered the 13.37
disk image to an .iso file on my hard drive, and written that out to a DVD-R
afterwards.

   There are trolls and angry or insecure folks on all mail lists. I ignore
them. It's easy to be nasty (or brutish) behind the safety of e-mail
messages. From what I've read, approximately 67% of human communication is
non-verbal (as body language and facial expressions, not writing), and
e-mail removes all the aurel cues we use when we can't see the speaker, such
as when on a telephone call. Further, what Alan Hicks thinks of me makes no
difference to my life; what my clients think of me does.

   Me, too. The flaming on some of the news groups was really quite pitiful.

   Anywho, I've made an installation DVD and CD-ROM of all patches (as of
this morning) for John and will mail it to him this afternoon.

   Slackware does not get the 'buzz' that Red Hat/Fedora/CentOS or Debian and
its derivatives (such as the ubuntus) do. I've never understood why, except
that it requires more thought and attention than do some others. So does
driving an manual transmission vehicle.
