Did you know that SuSE was originally a German Translation of Slackware? I've had the pleasure of meeting a lot of the original SUSE Staff members, and also, Patrick Volkerding, and I have to say that they are all amazing. I used to have Pat's Cell Phone number from wayyyyyy back when he got sick years ago because I was helping him find a Doctor where I live. I was Emailing him before all of this happened, and I then got his Cell Phone Number because my Mom had not only worked in a Doctor's Office, she was working at a Hospital here in town when he got sick, so I was telling him to come to Michigan, but sadly, he didn't have to come here. My Mom was talking to some Doctors here in Michigan and told them all about his symptoms, and he knew what it was but was having trouble getting a Doctor where he was to treat it properly, and I managed to get one of the Doctors my Mom was talking to, to agree to treat it properly, and when I heard the news I told him right away, but he said that he had finally managed to get a Doctor to treat it right, so he didn't need to come, but he was really happy I tried to hard to help him and he thanked me. I still have the Slackware Mouse Pad, Tee shirt, and pins I got :) > I said two or three months ago that I'll be buying the dvd to help support > Patrick's work, and I meant it...I just have to wait til after the third of > September for my paycheck to come in and I'll be ordering it first thing. You will LOVE the case and set! I personally own one of almost everything the Slackware Store Sells, and I LOVE the Mouse Pads, the Label Pins, and the Case Pins, and I also love the shirts. I also have both versions of the Slackware book, which by the way, if you don't own it, I do recommend you grab it whenever you can! It's a good book, it's got some humor in it, and it's a well written book. The other book is also really cool, though it's now dated. I bought my very first Slackware CD-ROM set when 10.0 came out, and before that I just downloaded the CD / ISOs and burned them myself, but I always liked buying it when I could. For 10.0 I had already downloaded it and was using it, but I had some extra money at the time, so I bought the 4 CD set, and I really liked it. The case is awesome, and it's totally cool to have it. I also bought 10.2, and another one. My Wife happens to have 7.0 too. (Yea, my Wife not only uses Slackware, She LOVES it :) It's one of the reasons I Married Her Hehe. That and She likes Vi :) ). For anyone who's reading this and has not ever gone to the Slackware store at store.slackware.com I can't say enough good things about it. I've never had any problems or issues with it, the staff are very kind and helpful, and also, some people may not know this, but the FreeBSD Mall was or is connected to it :) When I first started college, I had gotten this huge refund check from the school, and I needed supplies for school, so I bought a new Computer, and then, I went to the Slackware Store, and The FreeBSD Mall, and I ordered a BUNCH of stuff; I got almost everything for sale from the Slackware store, and then, I ordered just about every book on the FreeBSD Mall web site, and of course, tee shirts, Mouse Pads, Stickers, Case Plates, and more, and I paid extra for 2nd Day Delivery for my Slackware order, and realized I had enough, so, I paid for overnight shipping for my FreeBSD Mall order, and about 15 hours later, a huge box was on the Porch, and I drag it in the House, open it up, and there was my Complete FreeBSD Mall Order, AND my Slackware Store order, ALL in the SAME box :) I asked Pat about it, and he said yea that it's true they used the same place. I also got some freebies from both since I've met and befriended some of the Staff at both heh. But anyway, yea, I can't recommend them enough! Also I should have guessed that they were related; The Slackware Book has a BSD logo on it, and if you ever buy both a Slackware CD set and a FreeBSD CD set, they look almost the same heh. > Again, great job to everyone and thanks again to you Patrick. Agree! I just installed Slackware 14.0 on another machine the other day, and I LOVE it! > John -Allen > _______________________________________________ > slackware mailing list > [email protected] > https://mailman.lug.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/slackware -- ========================================== We Are 138!
