Thanks for the help.

The second option won't work as the efi.h header isn't part of either the
efibootmgr or elilo package. I've been down this road (the elilo build
fails due to the broken dependency). I would imagine the next version of
slackware will have this stuff nailed down so I'll upgrade at that point.

For now I'll stick with my boot stick - the dvd version works but I have to
type 'vmlinuz root=/dev/sda2 ro' at the boot prompt so apparently I need to
edit my syslinux.cfg...once I figure out what I've done wrong. The syslinux
approach seems foolproof yet I always find a way ;-)
