ps if Pat reads this, I hope he will reconsider this for later
releases of his distro - I know i'm far from the only one sick of it.


Frankly, dependency hell is part of distributions that ATTEMPT to resolve
dependencies automatically. One of the main reasons I love Slackware is
that it does NOT attempt such tomfoolery.

Perhaps you should try a third-party package manager?
