14.2: turn off SCIM

On my desktop running Slackware-14.2/x86_64 and Xfce4 there's a new issue
that's cropped up: SCIM (Smart Common Input Method) changes the language
from English to Hebrew whenever I press ctrl-spacebar. I find nothing in
/etc/rc.d that invokes SCIM and I want to turn it permanently off.

My web searchers found one stackexchange thread about turning on SCIM in
Slackware-12, several about windoze, and a couple for red hat and arch.

How do I totally disable SCIM on -14.2?
