yes, that's cause the structure of creating the files has changed a little 
bit. make_info_file only runs perfect from within make_inst_(disk|cd). If you 
want to use it you have to set the tmp_dir variable manualy
like
tmp_dir=$ALICE_HOME/tmp/ make_info_file ...
