For several days I have been trying to install suse 8.2 via ftp using a proxy without success. I tried the installation booting from the floppy and using modules1 and modules3 (each on a different floppy): all worked well until the moment of reading the packages to install. The error message was: "Cannot read package data from installation media. Media error?". Being tired, I have installed suse 8.1 in the same way and all worked perfectly: suse 8.1 was installed in a couple of hours. Do you know if suse 8.2 ftp installation through a proxy has some problems? Is there a way to accomplish the installation? Some friends of mine have told me that suse doesn't allow any more the ftp installation (but I can't believe this: it's against the free software philosophy that animates linux community). Is it true? Thank you for your help. Bye, Arrigo ______________________________________________________________________ Yahoo!
