I have that same model, but I've since retired it for two reasons:

- - It's slow

- - No newer versions of SuSE appeared (until now)

It was my first time playing with an Alpha and I wrote some notes for myself. 
The installation process is probably quite different now, but there might be 
some useful stuff in there, especially if you want to use LVM on your shiny 
disk array (I filled mine up):
