and at ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/people/stepan/SuSE-8.1-Alpha/ you find
update kernels (2.4,20) and some update packages. I'm currently trying to 
provide an updated gcc 3.3 based toolchain. binutils, gdb and strace are 
there. gcc itself will follow.
