We've had a lot of network trouble, especially with SMP machines and 2.4.4, loopback device trouble, and a lot of other issues. I've also uploaded a 2.4.19 kernel to ftp.suse.com/pub/people/stepan/kernel This one fixes the OSF binary compatibility which was broken with the old 2.4.18 rpms. Kernels more recent than 2.4.7 come with a completely different memory management subsystem so anything newer should be a lot nicer to work with > 1 why can't i get kernel console output on my serial connection with > console=ttyS0 ?? Ha! I had the same trouble recently. The order of the consoles matters. The first one you specify is the "main console" which gets all the kernel output and system startup messages. Try switching them around. > > Where'd you leak that from? Last Alpha version was 7.1 ;) > > sorry it's a 7.1, my mistake/wishful thinking. Like it would be mine ;) Best regards, Stefan -- The x86 isn't all that complex - it just doesn't make a lot of sense. -- Mike Johnson, Leader of 80x86 Design at AMD Microprocessor Report (1994)
