I don't have domrun installed, so I can't look it up, but I think in the 
config file or in the domrun script, there is an option to extend the 
timeout, domrun waits for the domino before forcing it down.
yep, you could also try to echo it down
echo q >>var/log/notes/domino.input || rcdomino stop
try something like this
