Dear Domino List,

This is not completely true. If you do not have a passport contract
you are able to download some incremental installers but you are not
allowed to use them.
Using incremental installers require a valid passport contract so I
recommend to be careful with statements like
"you don't need a passport subscription" because this could lead to the
opinion
that passport is for phone support / media shipping only.
In fact only with using passport you can upgrade to the current available
release,
even major version upgrading (e.g. R5 -> R6) is included.
If your passport ends and not renewed you are forced to stay at the current
available release.
The break even for not renewing passport contracts is about 2 years and a
few months, meaning that
from today you have to stay more than two years on 5.0.11 to start saving
money
(this does not take care of special offer pricing).
I am always surprised to see those statements in mailing lists.
Cheers

Heini
