This looks like some error I've found with a promise
times ago. I could overcome it by switching of DMA
for all IDE drives.

Check your cabling. Maybe these are to long. If not,
then your controller or drive isn't terminating the
cable correctly. You may try an other drive combination.

This is a known issue with some chipsets --- serverworks
being one of them. Could you be a bit more specific
what Hardware you have?

This might be, because you're missing the necessary software to show 
splash-screens at boot. SuSE doesn't install these if you selected 
"minimal install".
