RE: Domino R5.0.11 on SuSE 8.0 freezes

I owe you an update.

I have reinstalled Linux with only EXT3 as file system. But alas, it freezed more than ever.
Now I have replaced the old 4GB master with a 60GB drive and installed Linux+Domino on this drive only, without using the 10GB slave, but I used that one as a source for some files.
Now I saw only one freeze, just at the moment I tried to get some data from the slave drive. After that I umounted all partitions from the slave, and Domino runs fine. I will give it some more time to 'prove' that, but I'm convinced now that it has something to do with the hardware, to be specific: the IDE controller.
It is a HP Vectra model VLI8.PIII-700E. It has 2(!) slots for memory. If I try to test the memory in the bootmenu, the pc hangs. I have to remove the power cord than, because the on/off button doesn't do anything anymore. So, the freezing is not the only quirk.
And by the way, when Linux starts, it does so in charactermode. This much for compability.
It says on the front: Designed for Microsoft Windows NT/Windwos 98. Maybe this is not only advertisement.

you´re right, it can also run on a normal distribution, but there is
nothing tested so far, so that any complications can be.

As Thomas said in a later Thread, there is a known incompatibility
between ReiserFS and Domino (nobody knows correctly why).

With Ext3, the problems you have currently should not occur.

For running services type "ps ax" than you can see all what´s running.
It seems that LDAP is not installed if you can´t find anything about.
