Domino is a MTA. You do not need an other one if you
installed domino. But: I myself install sendmail on
all domino servers. Regardless I am not going to
use it.

Domino doesn't deliver software to send mail from
UNIX accounts thus

mail -s Test root@localhost

fails. Sendmail jumps into this. Now I am able to
use commands like the above on my Domino server.
Domino delivers the mail. Only quirk: I have to use
a Notes Client to read root mails...

But if you enable pop or IMAP on your domino
server you'll overcome this too.

You only have to make sure sendmail is configured to
only send mail, not listening on port 25 or you will
find domino not being able to work as a SMTP MTA
