Hi,

your´e right, not on the same machine.
if you want to use sendmail in general, you have to setup a standalone 
sendmail gateway, which can be used as outgoing mail relay for domino 
mail (smtp) services. this works only for external mails, not for 
internal notes memos (this is also the reason why domino needs it´s own 
router).
