I suggest you "export PATH=/opt/lotus/bin:/local/notesdata:$PATH"
aswell. Having notes.ini in the path is considered a Good Thing(TM).

Have you used netstat to verify that the domino server is indeed
listening on IP address 192.168.0.252 and TCP port 8585? And is the
server setup client capable of a successful ping to the destination
machine. I'm talking of both the standard ping using ping.exe and of
the setup client's ping mechanism.
