i am running since 2 days a hp Proliant ML 570 with SLES8 on it.... an yes
domino (here 6.5.1) loves the dual 2,8 Ghz, moreover with hyperthreading i
have now 4 Proc inside ;-)
I have 4 raids on 4 different controller channels:
Raid1 /root, /swap, /opt
Raid1 /translog
Raid1 /index rebuild
Raid5 /data
And yes my 4 GB RAM are recognized by Suse Linux.

Mark,
800 users will be no problem for a standard server these days, you are
right on with >2GB RAM. Domino loves multiprocessory systems, so a dual 2.8
Ghz Xeon will be a good pick. Other than that, lots of hard disk space
(about 100Meg / user), separate SCSI channels for OS and Domino server and
off you go.
Mit freundlichem Gruß,
Kind regards,
Sascha Siekmann.

[suse-domino] Advice on
server spec
Hello All,
I have been asked to supply a quote for a SuSE Enterprise server to
run Domino for ~800 users.
Does anyone have experience of systems of this size, and can give me
ideas on likely required spec such as RAM/processor/HDD. It'll be an
IBM xSeries...
Also does SLES 8 support >2G RAM?
TIA,
Mark.
