Ah, so that's the issue with using Dolphin on desktop environments other than KDE. That's why I don't use Dolphin on anything other than Plasma 6 - I just don't like the UI itself. A possible solution would be to start Dolphin then, Configure > Dolphin Configure > Folders & Tabs and uncheck the box for "Folders, tabs, and windows state from last time". You'll probably need to handle any remaining KDE processes after that.
