In 15.6 it is your choice to use either network manager or... I forgot 
the name. You select which in YaST, network config module.

If you select network manager you then have to configure it with the 
respective applet of whichever desktop you use.

If you intend to upgrade to 16.0 eventually, I suggest you switch to 
network manager now. Less pain later.
