With the installer for 16.0 you can use existing partitions, but it's a 
bit hard to find, the things are not located and ordered in an intuitive 
way and have kind of strange names.

But you can. I did a fresh install on another machine, but as I wanted 
everything encrypted except /boot I had to format, partition and encrypt 
the wanted parts manually using the rescue system, because choosing 
encryption during install would also encrypt /boot, thus asking for the 
passphrase twice at boot.

After that I used the normal installer and found where I can select the 
now existing partitions I wanted to be used.

However I /heard/ that you should not include your /home partition in 
that install, as it could be overwritten/emptied. But I don't know if 
that is true.

Anyway, my question was about update from 15.6, not new install :-)
