IMHO that's the way to go currently, and I am not aware of differing plans in 
that direction.

Of course there will be a point in the future where we might have to drop it.

And we haven't packaged it yet.
It is available from some home repos though.

AFAIK, it tries to "emulate" gnome-music, at least as far as it would take the 
collection from baloo (although it is intended to support tracker too 
apparently).

Anyway, not my kind of tea I think, TBH... ;-)
And there has not been a release yet either, AFAIK.

Yes, that's a (common) misconception,

All "KDE4" applications have been dropped from the official "KDE Applications" 
release.
That doesn't mean that suddenly all (still) kdelibs4 based 3rd applications 
will be dropped immediately too.

Yes. As I wrote, it is in kdepim-runtime 17.12 (beta), so please just 
uninstall it if necessary.
