OK, I might try the test version next time.

This time, I used the GPartEd live CD. It worked although Windows
"reconstructed" for several hours afterwards, but the partition sizes
are now ok and the computer is still stable.

I installed openSUSE 11.0 from the openSUSE 11.0 Gnome CD.
It worked quite well.
(But I didn't try WLAN and I didn't manage to fix the screen resolution.)
