Your posting interested me, so I installed mpd and gmpc, and I've edited the 
mpd.conf file to suit my setup, but it fails to build the database with the 
error

sudo mpd --create-db
listen: Failed to listen on *:6600: Address already in use
Aborted

I've checked in /etc/services and port 6600 is unassigned. Any suggestions?
