What application?
You mean a browser, wich one, mozilla?

Just assuming you are using mozilla, copy rpnp.so from 
/usr/lib/RealPlayer8 to the plugins directory of mozilla in /opt/mozilla 
  it's there somewere.

If you use konqueror do the above (if you have mozilla) and launch 
konqueror goto settings menu and select configure konqueror.

In the setting window scroll down to and select "plugins", there on the 
right you'll see a directory listing wich konqueror scans for plugins, 
make sure the plugins directory that mozilla uses is also listed, if not 
add it, then press scan for plugins.

If you do not have mozilla and are only using konqueror, simply add 
/usr/lib/RealPlayer8 to the plugins directory listing.
