Dear SuSE-Oracle users,

We would like to pre-announce the availability of the SLES-8 update
kernel we developed together with Oracle over the last few months. It
went through lots of testing, and right now it seems that no more issues
can be found by Oracle.

So we would like to make this announcement in order to let *you* do some
testing! This kernel scales much better and is more stable than any
other currently on the (Linux-Oracle) market, testing showed!

Location:
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/kernel/UnitedLinux/1.0/test/oracle/

(OCFS rpm's for the RAC cluster filesystem are in the directory just
above; Please IGNORE the directory "Oracle-cert-CD/" since it contains
an older status!)

THIS KERNEL IS NOT AND WILL NOT BE SUPPORTED IN PRODUCTION BY EITHER
SUSE OR ORACLE ON ANYTHING BUT SLES-8/UNITEDLINUX 1.0.

This is an update for SLES-8 (UnitedLinux 1.0). It will work on any
other Linux too - but only if you don't use things like "async I/O"
which require the appropriate user level libraries to be present. We
can/will investigate any bug reports only if you tested on SLES-8
because of theses and some other dependencies (with the glibc).
