[suse-oracle] restore a backup to another host : how ?

hi all. can someone point me to a good doc that explain how to restore a backup from one host to another in 10gr2 ( or/and XE ) ? today i found only nightmares like http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/backup.102/b14191/rcmrecov002.htm . is it really so hard to restart after an hardware failure ? scenario : 1) host PROD, with, oracleXE, makes daily complete backup, according to the shipped backup.sh script 2) at time X, sat, a truck or a rocket hits PROD 3) i have host DEV, with same db, same SID, but, of course, different dbid 4) i copy the last backup of PROD in the flash recovery area of DEV 5) i fire up rman 6) RMAN> catalog recovery area 7) rman complains : RMAN-07518: Reason: Foreign database file DBID: 2529076405 Database Name: XE i tried "nid" but i can't force a dbid. no way. i think that this opeartion should be the easiest thing to do. at least, with mysql it is. any suggestion ?
