Hi,

I used parted to do the partitioning before installation, which I was 
not aware of that it is able to do so now.
Thanks for pointing me to pdisk, this would have helped me too.

After installation the system does not boot properly because it got 
stuck in the startup process.

I need to do more investigation at which point excactly it runs into 
problems.

The rescue system runs fine. There you can do all the pre-work like 
partitioning or even get into your installed system to modify files.
