Change X resolution?

I got one of the 24" Sun plasma displays and I'm having a bear of a
time getting Linux to use a higher resolution than 1280x1024 to take
full advantage of the thing.

Under Solaris I used ffbconfig -res 1920x1200, and voila, when I
restart the X server it is set. I have a creator3d in an ultra 10.

Under Linux (7.3) I can't figure it out.

There are no modelines in the /etc/X11/XF86Config file, and when I try
to add some, they seem to be ignored.

SaX2 is unable to create a working configuration even when importing
the XF86Config that works at 1280x1024. Or rather, I am unable to
figure out how to get SaX2 to create one :-)

Something that I noticed is that /etc/X11/XF86Config seems to have been
created by sax2_sbus, but the one that SaX2 creates for me just says it
was created by SaX2.

Tried to run sax2_sbus directly and it just says it's setting up some
links; it actually re-creates the working (but fixed res)
/etc/X11/XF86Config.

Not having too much luck finding documentation for sunffb, so if anyone
has any hints I'd appreciate them!
