Porting features of Tuxonice on uswsusp

I am planning to work on improving the current Linux hibernation processes.
Because once I hibernated my system on ubuntu, during that time my system
got crashed and I lost my complete data.
recently I tried tuxonice for fedora 16, its working lightning fast and
stable.

So I was finding whether I can do any contribution in linux hibernation.
I got the mailing list threads where discussion on Tuxonice and uswsusp
where going on.

After reading the conversation I concluded that
1. Tuxonice is not approved to merge in main line kernel
2. now we have to provide the features of Tuxonice in uswsusp

whether my conclusions are right?
Because if we have to port features of tuxonice on uswsusp , I have time to
work on it.
