I am installing Tao on a Dell 300SC server and have run into a problem with the mouse. Once the X system for installation starts, the mouse freezes. The mouse I am using is a standard Dell 2 button mouse. I have tried it with a 3 button also. Either works when connected directly to the mouse port, but I have this running through a StarTech.com KVM. I use this combination on other Tao machines quite nicely. I have swapped ports on the KVM and have determined it is not the port or cable. I was using the same KVM/mouse on the same machine running RH 7.3 with no problems. I have tried Tao Update 2 and 4 with the same results. In other words, I have not been able to eliminate any variable to resolve this. It appears to be the combination of the mouse port hardware, KVM, and OS that is causing the problem. The mouse is recognized at the start of installation as a Generic 3 button mouse, the same as always. I do not know if the installation X configuration is actually the same as what is installed as a final X configuration. Does anyone have a suggestion, please?
