Unfortunately, this is a long known and longstanding problem -- mice are _very_ variable and the interaction and resynchronization through KVM's is spotty at best. I had to mark one as unsuitable under a 2.6 kernel today, which had always worked fiine under a 2.4 kernel. Differing brands of KVM also enter into the mix. I have a collection of theoretically identical Dell servers and dell KVM and Dell trackmouse/keboard - and one of the units just will not work through the kvm, but works fine directly. Very irritating. About the best advice I can offer is to buy several differing types of mouse, and experiment.
