Well, I normally run yum manually and inspect the updates list before
pressing "y"; furthermore all computers that I take care of have a
customized yum.conf (that points to a NFS share with Tao - among
others) with protectbase. But some other people around don't use my
customizations... and had protectbase disabled as they wanted to
replace the stock xmms with the one from Dag's repo ;-)

Yes, this would solve exactly the type of problem that I mentioned 
above. Those wanting xmms from Dag's repo could just specify it in 
includepkgs for Dag's repo definition and forget about anything else.
