The other problem is, Seth Vidal, who maintains yum, isn't a big fan of the patch - so it has little chance of ever going in. In fact, I'm pretty confident that the way protectbase currently works (checking Vendor of installed packages), it'll _never_ go in. I'm not all that great a python coder (ok, I'm actually a crummy python coder); it was significant work the first time, and will be at least as much work the next time around. So, given the hostile yum environment, and the fact that new yum functionality makes it possible, if inconvenient, to safely use 3rd party repos, it's kind of hard to justify the effort. I would, of course, gladly examine a patch that implements protectbase for 2.2 - but I don't currently have plans to re-code it myself. regards, David > > -- > Juan Carlos Castro y Castro > Desenvolvimento de Software > Gisplan Tecnologia da Geoinformação Ltda. - http://www.gisplan.com.br > Av.
