installing tao-4 and LVM/partition setup

Did a test install of tao4 yesterday onto a "spare" drive, and a
question arose:

i've always built systems with separate partitions for /boot, /, and /home.
Using the "automatic" partitioner, it displays partitions and LVM info
intermixed, and since I don't know anything about LVM I don't know how
to interpret it. Also, don't know how to CHANGE the default settings so
that it separates root, boot, and home as per my preferences.

After installing I did some quick looks at the online documents and though
there is some info there about LVM, I was unable to find the kind of
thing I was looking for.

Can someone give me a hint or a pointer, please?
